4 James Corwin Beery, aged 78, who was better known by his many friends as "Cory" Beery died at his farm home four miles west of Rochester in the Burton road at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday morning. Death was due to complications and followed an illness of five months. The deceased was a life resident of Fulton county. He was born January 30, 1861, and was the son of Aaron and Caroline Beery who were pioneer residents of the county. He was married to Sarah Alspach on January 30, 1894. Mr. Beery for many years lived on his farm in the Burton neighborhood where he was an extensive fruit and vegetable grower. For a number of years he was associated with his son, Don Beery, in operating a fruit market in this city. Survivors are the widow, son, Don Beery, two daughters, Mrs. Josephine Dawson, Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Melvin Smith, Hutchinson, KS., sister, Mrs. Thomas Neff of this city and five grandchildren. The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from Foster Funeral Home in West Sixth Street with Rev. D. S. Perry officiating. Burial will be made in the Odd Fellows cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral Home until the hour of the last rites.
