Friends of Ruth E. Lightfoot may call two hours prior to the 1 p.m. service Tuesday at the Stemm Lawson Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Lightfoot, 82, of 2601 Oakland Ave., died at 6:19 a.m. Friday (July 1, 2005) in Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born May 24, 1923, in White Pigeon, Mich., to Amos and O. Irene (Hathaway) Dunker. She married Orbie W. Lightfoot on Nov. 19, 1942, in Elkhart. He died Nov. 1, 1996.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol (William) Miracle of Elkhart and Ruth (Jay) Cook of Park Hill, Ontario, Canada; one sister, Georgia Salee of Elkhart; 11 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Harry Dunker; two sons, Allen (Skeet) Lightfoot and Orbie (Bud) Lightfoot Jr.; and one granddaughter.

Mrs. Lightfoot was retired from the Elkhart Community Schools where she served food in the cafeteria. She was a charter member of Winding Water Brethren Church and the Order of the Eastern Star 181 Starlite Chapter. She was also a member of White Shrine of Jerusalem, the National Food Service Association, Brothers of the Wind and the Elkhart County Campers Association.

Memorials may be given to the Winding Waters Brethren Church.
