2 Ms. Betty Jane Wise, 88, a resident of Crumland Farms of Frederick, died Monday, July 30 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.Born July 31, 1924, in Middletown, she was a daughter of the late Albert L. and Norma M. Wise. She graduated from Middletown High School and attended Visitation Academy in Frederick.Prior to her retirement, Ms. Wise had worked in the Federal Government for 35 years; most recently at the Department of Energy in Germantown, Maryland. She was a life-long member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, Middletown, singing in the choir for a number of years, a member, as well as teacher, of Christe de Fille Sunday School class, and served on the Consistory as an Elder.She devoted many hours to volunteer work as an Auxiliary member and officer at Citizens Nursing Home as well as the Homewood Auxiliary.Surviving, are two nieces, Bunny Cramer, of Middletown, and Gail Patrick of Woodstock; two nephews, Bill Locke and wife Beverly of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia and Michael Locke of Frederick and 21 great nieces and nephews.Ms. Wise was preceded in death by one brother, Gail D. Wise and wife Marion and one sister, Frances V. Locke and husband Bill.The deceased has respectfully asked that there be no visitation or flowers. In lieu of flowers, friends may choose to make memorial contributions to Christ Reformed Church, 12 South Church, Middletown, MD 21769 or to the Homewood Benevolent Fund, 7407 Willow Rd., Frederick, MD 21702.Ms. Wise's pastor, Rev. Mark A. Wakefield, will officiate at a Celebration of Life service at Christ Reformed Church on Thursday, August 2 at 11 a.m., with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church chapel one hour prior to the service. Friends are invited to a time of fellowship in the church hall following interment.Pallbearers will be: Mike Locke, Bill Locke, Mickey Keller, Lee Warren, Gregg Petermann, Frank LeClair.
