  General Notes:

His surname is sometimes shown as Woodward on documents for his wife and daughter(s) following his death during the Civil War. Their marriage record shows his surname spelled as Wooders and the 1890 Census of Surviving Soldiers and Widows clearly shows his name as Thomas J. Wooders and includes his military units.

In spite of all this, the grave for his widow is marked with the surname of Woodward.

Thomas married Margaret Ann Abrecht, daughter of Jonathan Ebrecht and Rebecca Wills, on 27 May 1863 in Frederick, MD. (Margaret Ann Abrecht was born in 1839 in Maryland,² died on 1 December 1925 ³ and was buried after 1 December 1925 in Frederick, MD ³.)
