The existence of this daughter on the 1880 US Census is most interesting because of her age which provides a birth year of about 1874. The father, Thomas J. Wooders, was killed during the Civil War, as indicated by the 1890 US Census of Surviving Soldiers and Widows which shows Margaret's name as well as the father's name of Thomas. The 1870 US Census shows Margaret living back home with her mother along with one daughter named Fannie. The Civil War was over by 1865 which means that Thomas J. Wooders must have been killed sometime between 1863 and 1865. So how could Margaret have another daughter with the Wooders/Woodward surname that was born about 1874? ![]()
