⁶ Mrs. Mary Culler, wife of M. Culler, died Sunday morning about 3 o'clock after about one week's illness with neuralgia of the heart. The surviving members of her family are the husband and three sons, William, Augustus and Eugene, all of Lucas.

Mrs. Culler was born April, 1850, in Clarion County, Pennsylvania; came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Christian Pugh, to Lucas, Richland County, Ohio, about the year 1865. She was married to M. Culler in 1867. Funeral services at the Lutheran Church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, the Rev. George Cochel. There was a large attendance of relatives and friends.

At least one researcher claims the following valid census for Melancthon:

1870 US Census Series M593 Roll 1261 Page 238 (Monroe Twp., Richland Co., OH) (living with parents)

However, an examination of the actual census page shows only his parents without Melancthon or his wife. In spite of other Culler families living in the area, they are not found in the 1870 census.
