• His obituary was published in March 2003. Leo R. Fay, age 77, of Portage, died on Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Divine Savior Extended Care in Portage. Leo Richard Fay was born in Madison on June 26, 1925, the son of William Matthew and Margaret Mary (White) Fay.
He served in the Army Military Police. He was married to Rachel Wheeler in Madison on January 26, 1963. Mrs. Fay preceded him in death on April 2, 1994. Leo had worked in sheet metal application and then as a custodial supervisor at the University of Wisconsin.
He moved his family to Deerfield in 1968, and then to Portage in 1980. He enjoyed reading, music, drawing, road trips, and the love of his family.
Survivors include three children, Wendy (James) Tiede of Manchester, Michael Fay (Donna Davenport) of Stoughton, and Mary (Patrick) Fahey of Portage; five grandchildren, Laurie, Brad, Margaret, Brooke, and Ryan; one great-granddaughter, Lydia; a brother, James T. Fay of Madison; two nieces, Jackie Hayes and Jill Levenhagen; other nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Mr. Fay was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert; three sisters, Catherine Molinaro, Helen Foye, and Eugenia Imhoff; and a nephew, Tinkey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2002, at 6 p.m. from ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH in Portage with Father Donn Heiar presiding. Burial will be on Wednesday at Welch Cemetery in Caledonia Township.
