Lois Claire Holmes ¹

  General Notes:

For some strange reason, Lois was not listed with her parents on the 1930 US Census when she was 9 years old. However, she is found listed about 2 families distant on the census form at the Terrill and Dora Mobley residence where Lois was listed as a granddaughter. The problem is that her age is shown as 1 year 2 months instead of the expected 8 years. The birth locations for Lois' parents are correctly shown as Missouri for the father and Kansas for the mother.

There is some evidence that Dora Mobley's maiden name was Perry which was the name of Lois' grandmother, Elizabeth Perry, but this Dora's father was Thomas Perry who was not a sibling to Faith but might have been an uncle or even a cousin. As near as I can tell, Lois was not a granddaughter to Terrill and Dora Mobley but might have been some other distant relative.

So it remains a mystery as to why Lois Holmes was being cared for by the Mobley family who already had 2 children of their own as well as another 2 year old grandson named Floyd Mobley living with them.
