bullet  General Notes:

Lu Verne probably had a 2nd wife named Myrtle Seidel. There is only the marriage record from 23 Nov 1910 in Stark County, Ohio that shows his 1st wife named Maude Sheaffer who was born in Canton, Stark County, Ohio in June 1888. The only other document subsequent to that is the 1930 US Census that shows Lu Verne living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a wife named Myrtle who was born about 1890 in Wisconsin instead of Ohio. His gravestone shows his wife's name as Myrtle born in 1889.

It could be possible that somehow Myrtle was a nickname for Maude but that seems unlikely. That 1930 US Census does indicate that Luverne was married at age 21 and Myrtle was married at age 19. That age is correct for Lu Verne's first marriage but his 1st wife, Maude, was about 22 years old when she was married to Lu Verne, not the 19 shown on the 1930 US Census. However, Myrtle Seidel was first married to De Forest Hammond in 1908 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin when she was 19. Therefore, on the 1930 census form, those ages when married refer to their age when they were first married, not the age when they were married to their current spouse.

No record of any other marriage for Lu Verne has been found and he is not found in the 1920 US Census.

Lu Verne traveled around extensively. He was born in Washington, Illinois in 1889. By June of 1900 he moved with his parents to Dallas County, Missouri. By Apr 1910 he moved with his parents to Canton, Ohio where he was married there in Nov 1910. By June of 1917 he was living on his own and working as a machinist in Saint Paul, Minnesota. By Apr 1930 he was remarried and living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he died in 1939 at the age of 50.
