Gladys Fae Stumph, 93, of Olathe, Kan., formerly of La Plata, Mo. passed away Friday, April 24, 2009. Private family services will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Calvary Chapel, 1556 E. Spruce, Olathe, KS 66061.

Gladys was born November 24, 1915, in Kirksville, Mo. to Glen and Alpha (Holmes) Crawford. In 1933 she graduated from La Plata High School and later earned her Post Graduate Nursing degree in Chicago, Ill. She married the love her her life, Eugene Stumph, on October 14, 1940 in St. Louis, Mo. while Eugene was defending our country in WWII, Gladys moved to Helena, Mont. where she worked at the VA Hospital. After the war, they returned to St. Louis so she could play on the professional women's basketball team. In 1960 they moved to La Plata, Mo where she began a long career as a home health nurse. After retiring, she began working for Hollister's Inc. in Kirksville, MO. Gladys truly loved painting pictures and plates and thoroughly enjoyed sunbathing.

Mrs. Stumph was preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant son Robert and 2 sisters, Mafalda Bauch and Doris Baitty.

She is survived by her son, Glen and his wife Rena Stumph of Olathe, Kan; 3 grandchildren, Joseph and Jason Stumph, Jean and her husband Billy Houston and 4 great granddaughters, Hannah, Grace, Clara and Franki.
