NOTE - Samuel was listed as "Senior" because of the 14 year old Samuel living with him who was actually a nephew. Technically, there were no Samuel Juniors. In addition, on the 14 year old Samuel's card, it indicates that his mother was born in Iowa which was the same for the rest of the McLaughlin children. His mother was actually born in Texas but appearently the enumerator missed that point.

Along with their own children, Alvaretta and Sam McLaughlin took into their home and reared Mr. McLaughlin's nephew, son of John McLaughlin - whose name was also Sam McLaughlin. His mother had died when Sam was just an infant. He was born July 4, 1890 in Texas and died October 21, 1957, in Los Angeles, California.
