bullet  General Notes:

She went by her middle name of Rebecca so seldom do you see the name Rachel used.

Life was somewhat cruel to Rebecca because her first daughter, Etta, died on the day of her first birthday in 1874 when Rebecca was about eight months pregnant with her second daughter, Florence. But Florence also died sometime between 1880 and 1900 with my best guess of about 1888. At that time, two of her three children were already in the grave. She gave birth to her fourth child in 1890 which was a full 11 years following the birth of her third, thus my reasons for thinking that the fourth was a "replacement" child for one that may have died just a year or two prior otherwise the 11 year gap between children seems unusual.

In 1901, her husband, Daniel, died at the age of 52 leaving Rebecca a widow with two young children. In 1916, her third child, Willis, also died and some recent records, yet to be proven, also indicate that her fourth child, Millie, probably also died in 1916 leaving Rebecca completely alone. When she died in 1922 at the age of 70, it was her nephew, Harrison Allison, that was the informant on her death certificate.

Rebecca and Daniel share one common gravestone within the Allison Family plot area of Boynton Cemetery that is a large vertical face monument of polished gray granite. The name ALLISON is cut in relief on the top of the vertical face. Below that the inscription reads "Daniel Allison, 1849 - 1901; R. Rebecca Allison, his wife, 1851 - 1922".
