General Notes:
The locations of Melvina as a child seem somewhat clouded. For the 1870 census in Illinois, at age 17 she is living at the home of A. M. Springate and his wife Pauline Arnspiger in Jersey County. By 1873 Melvina was married to H. B. Woodward in Montgomery County, Illinois. That marriage lasted only a short time. She must have moved with her parents to Kansas sometime before 1880 and she appeared with her parents on the 1880 census in Sumner County, Kansas under the name of Melvina Woodward. In two more years, she married Charles Kincaid in Sumner County, Kansas.
