bullet  General Notes:

From Fern Arnspiger-Hyten:
Eula's grandfather Henry Arnspiger was born in Kentucky, married Mary Jane Fitzgerald, later moved to Illinois in Jersey county. Grandfather Arnspiger took a claim in Kansas in 1874 and moved his family to Kansas, Sumner County. George W. Arnspiger, his son was shot accidentally and buried on the family farm. That plot was given to the community as a Cemetery. When the family started to Kansas, they arrived in Johnson County near Kansas City when they heard of the grasshopper invasion. They rented a place in Johnson County and spent the winter there before coming on to Sumner County. Their cousins A. B. McCutcheons were living there. So the two families were together.

bullet  Burial Notes:

Henry and his wife, Mary, share one common gravestone which is a large block monument of gray granite with a carved vaulted top. The inscription on the polished front vertical face reads "Mother and Father; Mary J. Arnspiger, Nov. 26, 1830 - Aug. 17, 1905; Henry Arnspiger, Dec. 16, 1829 - Aug. 10, 1910".

The creator of the memorial at FindAGrave.com listed his name as Charles Henry Arnspiger. I have yet to find any source that indicates a given name of Charles. In fact, all of his census records indicate his name as Henry from age 21 through age 71. Even his gravestone supplies only the name of Henry.
