The above death record from Minnesota shows that the Chandler name was originally spelled as Schantler and eventually was "Americanized" into Chandler, which was probably easier for many people to spell. But there is one small detail from the death record that remains confusing. When he died in 1945, it stated that his marital status as married and his spouse was Rose Stoops. However, other records indicate that he and Rose were divorced sometime around 1915 and she remarried to Charles Lightfoot in 1916. I believe the intent of the information on the death record was to show that he was married and one time and his wife's name was Rose Stoops. Apparently he never remarried.
