bullet  Marriage Notes:

John Jay Fast was born 16 Oct 1814 in Greene County, Pennsylvania. He was reared on a farm and had very meager educational advantages, not attending school more than a year altogether. By private study, however, he qualified himself for teaching and followed this profession for some time.

On 13 Sep 1835, he was married to Hannah Day, a native of New York State. Born 12 Oct 1818, the daughter of Samuel and Hannah Robbins Day, natives of Vermont and Massachusetts, respectively. In 1836, they moved to Fulton County, Illinois, where his family lived for thirty years. In 1866, they moved to Barton County, Missouri. John Jay was the first treasurer of the Lamar School Board. He was a prosperous farmer and a much respected citizen. He and his wife were members of the Free Will Baptist Church.

Hannah (Day) Fast died 5 Jul 1899. John Jay Fast died 27 Nov 1891. They are buried at Barton City Cemetery.
