His obituary stated "He came with his parents at an early age to Iowa where he has lived until the time of his death, with the exception of two years in Kansas from 1901 to 1903."

Actually, after his birth in Colorado in 1872, his parents traveled to California where they all appeared on the 1880 Census. Apparently his parents located to Decatur County, Iowa by 1894 when William Jr. was married in Garden Grove. Where his parents lived between 1880 and 1894 is not known.
