Deed:
2 Aug 1816, George Wine, Guernsey, Ohio sold to Jacob Darner, Muskingum, Ohio, 85 acres, Range 3, Township 2, Section 4, Book C/22 in Guernsey, Ohio, for $400.

24 Nov 1823, Jacob Darner sold same tract for $400 back to John and Emanuel Wine, 2 minor children of George Wine, excepting and reserving 1/3 for use of Mary Wine, mother of said John and Emanuel during her natural life as fully and complete as though I had made a separate deed for same (Bk D/394).

On 10 Oct 1832, Mary Wine, John Wine and wife Sarah, and Emanuel Wine and wife Elizabeth sold the same land to Henry Aulthouse for $800. Don't know what happened to George Wine. Did he die young so that Jacob sold back this land making provisions for his sister?

This deed does not mention if Mary was a "widow" or "wife" of George, but only "the mother" of the 2 minor children. Finaly, in 1832, when the land was sold by the Wines, it was signed by all parties involved along with their wives. These deeds also tell us that perhaps Jacob Darner did not have a wife at this time (1823) because he had no wife to sign off her dower rights.

Mary married George Wine on 12 November 1806 in , Frederick County, MD.^{1 2} (George Wine was born between 1781 and 1782 in , Frederick County, MD ³ and died before March 1823 ³.)
