bullet  General Notes:

ANNA BARBARA MASON FAST SUES SON OVER WILL:
"Anna Barbara Mason Fast, widow of Christian Fast, had to sue her son, David Fast, for her fair support from Christian's estate. David, immediately after the death of his father, took possession of all goods, chattels and personal property of his parents. He refused to give his mother the support to which she was entitled. David sold all the earthly possessions of the family and refused his mother any of the proceeds. By the will of Christian Fast, David could not dispose of the estate until the death of Anna Barbara Fast. But contrary to this, David sold the property and appropriated all the proceeds for his own use. He even tried to lay claim to $100 that belonged to his mother free and clear." -- By Jenny Branscom - Jan 18, 1999.

• His obituary was published in the Unknown newspaper in January 1882.

5 Mr. David Fast died at the residence of his son, David Fast, Jr., in Iantha, MO., on Wednesday, Jan 25th, 1882, at the age of eighty-five years.

Mr. Fast was born in Greene County, Pennsylvania, in 1797 and was brought by his father to Orange Township, Ohio in the spring of 1815, when a portion of that county was occupied by the Delaware Indians. He was one of the hardy men who grew up in that country and who were ever ready to cope with the difficulties and privations incident to pioneer life.

Mr. Christian Fast, father of the deceased, was an eminent pioneer, who at one time was captured by the Indians on the Ohio river, and an account of whose capture and escape appeared in the history of Ashland county, by Dr. G. H. Hill, published in the Press of Nov 26, 1874.

Mr. Fast moved to Stark Co., Illinois in 1850 and later lived in Canton several years. Since the death of his wife in July last, he removed with his son to Missouri, where his remains were interred with the honors of the Masonic Fraternity.
