Martha's name is not mentioned in her father's will dated 7 Jul 1831 but he named his son-in-law, Joseph Riffle, as one of the executors of his estate. Most researchers show the wife of Joseph Riffle to be Martha Fast.

The 1870 US Census shows the name of his wife in an indistinct handwriting which could be interpreted to be "Mary W. Riffle" instead of the expected "Margaret Riffle". It is possible that it could be "Marg W. Riffle" but there is a gravestone for Martha in Jacob's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery which provides a death date in 1858. Therefore, Joseph must have been remarried to someone named "Mary W."

Martha married Joseph Riffle, son of George Adam Riffle and Elizabeth Walser, about 1834. (Joseph Riffle was born on 31 March 1801 in Pennsylvania,² ⁴ ⁵ ⁶ died on 5 October 1872 ⁶ and was buried after 5 October 1872 in McClellandtown, PA ⁶.)
