Mary married Daniel Lightfoot, son of Daniel Lightfoot and Alitia Algar, on 2 April 1771 in , Richmond County, VA.^{1 2} (Daniel Lightfoot was born about 1748 in North Farnham Parish, Richmond County, VA, British Colonial America ⁴ and died in August 1838 in , Fluvanna County, VA ¹.)

Lt. Daniel Lightfoot of Fluvanna County; Will probated August 27, 1838. Supposed to have had three daughters who married three Moon brothers, among them: Mariah Lightfoot, Sally Lightfoot, and Mary Lightfoot.

Daniel is also in the 1820 US Census (p.62 pr 491) with males under 10, 16-26, 26-45, over 45, and females under 10, 16-26, over 45 (one in each age group), and 18 slaves. Because Daniel apparently never had any son, I therefore assume from this that at least one of their married daughters, children, and husbands were living in his household. Otherwise, there should have been no males in the census.
