Melvin and his wife, Rachel, share one gravestone of a vertical face monument of gray granite. On the polished front face is the name McGREW in large block letters at the top. On the left side the inscription reads "Melvin C., 1852 - 1934" while on the right side it reads "Rachel A. Fast, his wife, 1850 - 1928" and below that it reads "George A., son, 1880 - 1950".

Her obituary was published in the Steuben Republican on 8 August 1928 in , Steuben County, IN.
Rachel A. McGrew, daughter of Christian & Henrietta Sowle Fast was born in Ashland County, Ohio Dec 4, 1850. She was united in marriage with Melvin C. McGrew July 2, 1874. To this union were born two children; Alida, wife of Harley Webb of Nevada Mills and George of Cleveland, Ohio. She departed this life at her home near Crooked Lake, July 31, 1928 aged 77 years, 7 months, 27 days. She was the last surviving of eight children; four brothers, three sisters and one half sister having preceded her to the life beyond. The husband, two children, six grandchildren, one great grand child, two half brothers (Ira and Orla Fast) of Angola, and a host of relatives and friends are left to mourn the loss. When two years of age she came with her parents to Indiana who settled on a farm northwest of Angola, now owned by Mack Pogue. Here she grew to womanhood. She united with the Christian Church in Angola very early in life under the pastorate of John Aylesworth. She was firm in her belief and remained faithful to her Lord and Master. She attended school in Angola, having for her instructor Prof. Robert Carlin, and became a public school teacher, teaching many terms in Steuben County. She was a patient sufferer for a period of about five years and will be greatly missed in the home. Funeral Services were conducted at the home near Crooked Lake August 2 at 2:00 PM by Elder J. O. Rose, assisted by Elder W. O. Foster, pastor of the Christian Church in Angola. Burial was in Sowle Settlement Cemetery.
