George was an auto mechanic. As a young man he drove new Auburns from Auburn, Indiana to Cleveland, Ohio. He then sold cars. In later years he owned his own garage in Cleveland. He had a housekeeper, Rhoda Haines, for many years. She worked for McNally Doyle, a candy and bakery in Cleveland. George was especially close to son, Harold, and his family. He was ambidextrous and had BIG hands.
