After George and Zora separated in 1925, she lived in Wooster, Wayne County, Ohio. Later, she and her son, Wayne, made their home with Paul Hawk. Zora was a school teacher before she married. Later she was a "Nanny" for newborns all over the US. She saw every state in the US on a Greyhound bus. She went to Hawaii as a 90th birthday gift from her family. She crocheted in her spare time. For years she kept a diary detailing every mile she traveled and what the weather was. She refused to grant George a divorce although she had no other male interest.
