Juanita Lobdell, 79, of Davenport, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at the Davenport Lutheran Home, surrounded by her three children. Private family services will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Davenport Lutheran Home. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting her family with arrangements.

Juanita was born in 1934, in Conesville, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Viola Wagner. She married Wayne Hazen on Aug. 3, 1951, in Nichols, Iowa. He preceded her in death Sept. 13, 2002. Juanita worked at the Davenport Good Samaritan Nursing Home for 25 years, retiring in 2001. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping, yard sales, going out to eat, reading and watching stock car racing. Her family was her No. 1 priority for her time and attention, however.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandi Hazen Peel of Davenport; sons, District Hazen of Bettendorf, and Tim Hazen of Davenport; grandsons, Jeremy Peel of Crosby, Texas, and Joshua Hazen of Davenport; and a great-grandson, Ryder Peel of Davenport.

Juanita's family wishes to express their gratitude to Genesis Hospice, Pastor Chris Lockie, and the entire staff of Davenport Lutheran Home for their genuine compassion and care of their mother.

Wayne's obituary from the funeral home listed his survivors to include "a special friend, Juanita..." If this is the same as his wife, Juanita Wagner, then this language from the obituary makes it sound as if they were never married yet there is the record of their marriage from 1951 in Muscatine County. One other possibility is that they were divorced at some time but reconciled without being remarried.
