• His obituary was published after 14 December 2012 in Muscatine, IA. ⁴ Richard Allen Wehmeyer Sr., 75, of Muscatine passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012, at the VA Hospital in Iowa City.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at the Muscatine Baptist Chapel. Following the services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in memory of Richard. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for Richard's arrangements and his family.

Richard was born on October 11, 1937, in Columbus City, the son of Henry Otis and Freda Winifred Stratton Wehmeyer. He was married to the love of his life and wife of 57 years, Carolee Leach on Christmas Day, 1955.

He was a very creative and talented woodworker. His creations are our treasures. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a strong man who endured so much, yet never complained.

He was loved by all who know him and will be deeply missed by his wife, Carolee Wehmeyer of Muscatine; two sons, Dennis Wehmeyer and Michael Wehmeyer, both of Muscatine; one daughter, Debra Wehmeyer and special friend, Dean Parish, of Davenport; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Wehmeyer and wife, Jeanie, of Davenport, and Jeff Wehmeyer and wife, Laura, of Muscatine; and one sister, Delores Bergen of Muscatine.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Richard Wehmeyer Jr.; and one sister, Reta Kay Wehmeyer.
