• Her obituary was published after 2 November 2019. Jean Doris Stedman, 94, of Pekin, IL went to Heaven peacefully at her home surrounded by all of her children at 4:30 PM, Saturday, November 02, 2019.
She was born February 16, 1925 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Lee Lendon and Mary Elizabeth (McLaughlin) Lightfoot. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one brother, and two sisters.
Surviving are her four children, Susan Silvey, of Bloomington, IL, Nancy McGinnis, of Morton, IL, Greg Brinkmann, of Pekin, and Jeff Brinkmann of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Jean attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated from Cook County Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, IL. Additionally, she graduated with a B. S. degree from Illinois State University. Jean retired in 1987 from Illinois Central College Allied Health Division. She was a dedicated nurse. As a nursing instructor, Jean was a mentor to her students, instilling the principles of excellent care and ethics.
She was a member of Pekin Hospital League, AARP, Pekin Women's Club, Red Hat Society, and Pekin Garden Club. She was an avid golfer during her life.
A private family Graveside Service will be held in Davenport Memorial Park in Davenport, Iowa. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with Jean's arrangements.
In memory of Jean, smile and be kind always to everyone. Jean attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.
Her family wants to thank the excellent care Mom received from Dr. David Best, Dr. Kalvakuri, Dr. Tonozzi-Kinzinger, Dr. Mueller, OSF Hospital, OSF Hospice and Father Mike Andrejek.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, OSF Health Care Foundation or St. Joseph's Catholic School.
