General Notes:
Strangely, the 1920 census gave his name as "William C. Ripley" while the youngest son known as "Billie" in the 1930 and 1940 US Census records was not born until some time after the enumeration in April 1920.
I believe the use of the name William on this 1920 census was a mistake by the enumerator because later records and other researchers show that his given names were "Ceile Whitehead". I cannot explain how the enumerator came up with the name William unless the parents were calling that infant by that as a nickname, sort of like a William Jr., and then later that year when his brother was born, the parents gave the name of William Jr. to that infant.
