Edna Bernice Sloan, 85, a resident of The Gardens of Celina, died there at 6:35 PM Jan. 14, 2003. She was born Feb. 12, 1917, in Mercer, to William and Gertrude VanTilburg Fast. She married Ralph D. Sloan in 1953 and he is deceased. Surviving are a stepson, David (Carol) of Madison, Indiana; a sister, Murlie Boroff, Celina, Ohio; and several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Deceased are four brothers, Ivan, Donald, Harold and Oreal, and three sisters, Helen Hott, Florence Braun and Ruby Shaner. She had worked as a waitress at restaurants in the Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Chicago, Illinois areas. Services are 2 PM Saturday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Kenneth Laffin officiating. Burial will follow at Roebuck Cemetery, Center Township. Calling is afternoon Saturday at the funeral home.
