• His obituary was published in the Daily Review Atlas on 2 September 2008 in West Burlington, IA.

2 Charles James "Chuck" Lightfoot, 65, of Gladstone, died at 8:39 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.

Born Sunday, July 11, 1943, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Charles William and Eileen Richmond Lightfoot. On March 13, 1965, he married Naomi R. Flynn in Galesburg.

He retired from J. I. Case Company. After retirement, he worked for Doran and Ward Printing Company.

He was a 1961 graduate of Union High School. He attended Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee. He served in the National Guard.

He attended First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He enjoyed traveling, reading, working on the family farm, snow skiing, bicycling and especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Naomi Lightfoot; one daughter, Tausha (Adam) Glasgow, of Burlington, Iowa; one granddaughter, Madeline Kay Glasgow; his mother, Eileen Lightfoot Powers of Burlington; one sister, Elizabeth (David) Hays of Oquawka; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and one son, Troy James Lightfoot.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 3 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Rev. Tom Smith and Chaplain Randy Gearhart officiating. Interment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
