bullet  General Notes:

Amanda Yoha appeared on the 1850 US Census with her parents, Eli and Lavina Yoha . Her age was 4 thus giving a birth year of about 1845. A problem occurs 20 years later on the 1870 US Census of Mifflin Township, Richland County, Ohio when Amanda was listed as only 12 years old instead of the expected 24 years. This must be an enumerator error because the 24 year old Mary Amanda Yoha was supposedly already married to James Lightfoot and had already given birth to 3 children. If not an enumerator error then perhaps the parents named another daughter Amanda Yoha while the first one born in 1845 was actually Mary Amanda Yoha.

• Death Image: Image, on 29 September 1918, in Spring Township, Barry County, MI.

• She was buried on 1 October 1918 in the Freeport Cemetery in Freeport, MI.

Although there seems to be no birth records for Mary, she most likely was born in 1845 according to the 1850, 1870, and 1880 census records. In addition, the death certificate indicates a birth date of 27 May 1845. Thus the gravestone's birth year of 1846 is probably incorrect.

bullet  Marriage Notes:

The marriage register contains the names "James Lightfoot to Mary A. Urie" but the Return and Record section states "James Lightfoot and Miss Mary A. Yoha." For some unknown reason, the clerk writing the entries into the register book mistakenly wrote the name Urie instead of Yoha.

Sometime between 1877 and 1881, which would have been just before or just after James died, Mary and the children relocated to Barry County, Michigan. It is believed that she was remarried to Jacob Wallace there in 1881. That marriage may not have ever happened because the Barry County Register of Marriages Book also contains an entry dated 23 Jun 1887 showing a marriage between Barry Carlton, age 55, and Mary A. Lightfoot, age 35. It also shows an entry for her maiden name as (Unreadable) Yoha.
