bullet  Marriage Notes:

The name of John Jacob Bowman has been easily confused by other researchers with another John Jacob Bowman born only 3 years later in the same general area. In addition, there was at least one other John Bowman living in the same county in the next decade or two.

Even the 1850 census which shows a John Bowman with wife named Caroline, presumably Caroline Weaver, seems questionable if this is the correct John Bowman. The 1850 census indicates John's birth year of about 1810 which was 3 years after this John Bowman, but matches the other John Jacob Bowman, who was the son of John Jacob Bowman, Sr. and Charlotte Stough. The major differences between the two seems to be that this one tended to stay in Mahoning County, Ohio whereas the one born to Charlotte Stough spent many years in Columbiana County, Ohio and eventually moved to Noble County, Indiana. Those facts alone make me believe that the 1850 census from Mahoning County applies to this John Jacob Bowman, son of Christian Bowman, even though the census makes it seem that he was born 3 years later than believed.
