Subject: RE: Williams Tree

As far as I know, Enoch only had one wife. He farmed and trained horses for the army and was kicked in the stomach by a horse in late 1914 which led to his death in 1916. He was chair bound from that point on. I got this from my grandfather (Bryant, listed as Robert Bryant). My grandfather's sister confirmed the story. Now after Enoch died, she remarried at some point and became Mary Townsend but I'm not clear on when that was. The story I was always told was that the family moved to Oregon after the civil war having lost their holdings in the south. I can't substantiate that though. One thing we have is a series of tape recordings we made with my grandfather before he died and he walks through a pretty good portion of the family history. It's too bad you didn't get a chance to talk to Dortha before she died. She lived in Petaluma and was a great resource. Robton, her son is still alive and I believe he has all the documentation to trace back the an ancestor that fought in the revolution. I believe that Dortha was a documented Daughter of the Revolution and we have the paper trail to prove it somewhere. Dortha was quite the firecracker. That trail was what started me on this whole thing as I would like to be able to document my kids into that group (they have some great college scholarships if you can prove your lineage).

My guess on the Tennessee/Missouri thing is that there are some errors in the census. I had always heard Missouri and when I saw Tennessee I was pretty surprised. That woman had steel spine though, raising all those kids, dirt poor and still making it to 100. She ruled the family with an iron rod right up until her death.

NOTE - Linkville was the original name of Klamath Falls. The name was changed around 1893 but apparently there was still a small pocket that retained the old name. Even in today's modern times, the name of Linkville appears in many commercial ventures in Klamath Falls.
