 General Notes:
The 1860 US Census records Henry's birth location as "On the plains". Obviously his parents were moving from Illinois to Oregon and Martha must have given birth along the way. His older sister, Alice, was born in Illinois in 1852 while his younger brother, John, was born in Oregon in 1856. The exact location of Henry's birth is not known but Henry later on always stated that Oregon was his place of birth. The 1880 US Census does give "On the Plains, Oregon" as his birth location.

Birth Notes:
The 1860 US Census provides only the unique birth location of "on the plains" obviously during their move to Oregon but lacks any details as to an area or which state. The 1880 US Census did state "On the Plains, Oregon".
