The Swartz surname is sometimes indexed in many resources as Schwartz. It is not exactly clear as to which spelling was the true and exact one and it appears that the document record all depends upon how the clerk completing the document heard it pronounced.

Some researchers erroneously show that Nancy was born in Illinois but it is clear that she indicated her birth location as Ohio on all US Census reports. Her parents were both born and died in Ohio. She also first appeared on the 1850 US Census at the age of 2 months living with her parents in Fairfield County, Ohio.
