bullet  General Notes:

(Email May 2012)

Hey Brian! What a terrific job you are doing researching the genealogy of the families. It is something that I thought I would be doing when I retired from my 27-year Air Force career. But then there followed a 11-year career with GTE before retiring for the second time. Then when many companies with whom I had relationships over the years started calling me about doing consulting work for them, I started my third career with my own consulting business that I finally retired from after 5-years. Although all the kids were gone from the house when I started consulting and I was able to have Jackie accompany me to the cities where I did the consulting, it was difficult to be away from beautiful Colorado Springs so often. The first consulting job I accepted was with SW Bell Telephone HQ in St. Louis. The pay was outstanding and they put Jackie and I up in a beautiful hotel 12th floor suite looking out a large bay window at the St Louis landmark, the Arch, and Mississippi River. The HQ where I worked was a nice 10-block walk through downtown St Louis. What initially was about a 7-week job, turned into a 7-month job when they asked me to stay to run their entire 22-person proposal team. I learned to love St. Louis, i.e., beautiful city, great people, lots to do, fine restaurants, and major league sports We were 2-blocks from Bush Stadium (Cardinals). Also we were about a mile from Bush Brewery (toured often every time one of the kids and their families, and others came to visit us). We were only a 1-1/2 hour drive to visit sister Ruth in Springfield, IL. And finally, St. Louis is a big city with many small town activities right downtown, i.e., six large parades, weekly concerts and go-cart races while we were there. Didn't mean to go into this detail but thought it might show up in the Drugan genealogy someday. Well anyhow Brian, keep up the tremendous work. I know the satisfaction you must get out of doing all this for us Drugans. We all appreciate it greatly.

Uncle Bill
