A second year as president of the Sorrowful Mother and St. Anne's Societies of St. John's Catholic Church has been started by Mrs. S.W. Newfeldt.

Mrs. Newfeldt came to Winona from Trempealeau, Wis., 24 years ago. She is a graduate of Trempealeau High School. She is a member of Winnebago Council 11, Degree of Pocahontas, Riverside-Magnolias Camp, RNW, and the St. Rose of Lima Guild.

She is employed part time at the Broadway Dress Shoppe. Her husband and she reside at 559 E. 5th St. He is a bridge engineer for the CB&Q Rd.

bullet  Marriage Notes:


Miss Irene Drugan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Drugan of Trempealeau, became the bride of S.W. Newfeldt at St. Bartholomew Catholic church here Tuesday morning. The single ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. F. E. Wallace.

The bridal party entered the church while the wedding march was played by Mrs. Martin Soppa of Arcadia, Wis. The bride wore a white satin gown, floor length. Her long trailing veil was arranged in cap effect with orange blossoms and she carried an arm bouquet of roses.

The bride chose Miss Pauline Coyle and Miss Elaine Newfeldt as bridesmaids. Miss Coyle wore a gown of yellow crepe with white accessories and a corsage of pink roses and baby's breath and Miss Newfeldt, sister of the bridegroom, wore a gown of pink crepe with white accessories and a corsage of pink roses and baby's breath. The bridegroom was attended by Leo and Kenneth Drugan, the former a brother of the bride and the latter a cousin of the bride.

Forty guests attended a wedding dinner at the home of the bride's parents at 12 o'clock. Large baskets of peonies, red, white, and pink, decorated the home. The church altar's also were banked with flowers.

Out-of-town guests to attend the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Martin Soppa and children, Arcadia; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Frasch, La Moille; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Salsman, Elroy, Wis.; Mrs. Thomas Walski and daughter, Esther, Galesville; Mr. and Mrs. Kozalka, Winona; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Crivits, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Olson and Dr. and Mrs. R. L. Alvarez, Galesville; Mrs. Alfred Newfeldt, Ellsworth, Wis., and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hamernik and children, Winona.
