  General Notes:

Email from Jo Ann Lee, 8 Nov 2010, responding to my question regarding why Rozella placed her 3 youngest children in the IOOF Home in Springfield and she kept the oldest (Jeminia) with her:

I am also guessing that the children were placed in the home because she had no way to support them. I found court records that she was receiving some relief money from the county. She had to go court every 6 months to continue it. She lived with her mother & step father & worked at various jobs. Her youngest child lived with her. My grandmother spent time in the IOOF Children's Home. I suspect when she became 15 or 16 she was removed from the home & went to work. Rozella's youngest son was placed in the home. This home still exists. In early spring I made a trip to Springfield looking for records. The home was purchased by another health care organization. I believe it is being used as a rest home.

NOTE - Jo Ann Lee is the granddaughter of Jeminia Leona Bird.
