David Henry Rands, born May 1, 1868, Brussells, Ontario, Canada. When he was fourteen, his father moved the family to North Dakota. After a few years they moved to a farm near Tripp [Hutchinson County], South Dakota. He had eight brothers. All of them played a musical instrument. Your grandfather played the violin. He served as Judge of the Ririe court for many years. February 28, 1892 he was married to Sarah Elizabeth Arnsberger at Nebraska City, Neb. For three years they lived on a farm near Tripp, South Dakota. Moved to Cody, Wyoming. Grandfather was acquainted with William Cody "Buffalo Bill". After three years living at Cody, they bought a large cattle ranch at Big Piney [Sublette, then Fremont County], Wyoming. The fall of 1910, they moved to Butler Island [Jefferson County], Idaho. Bought a farm, built a nice house and barn. Fall of 1917 they rented their farm and moved to Ririe, Idaho. He worked for the Ririe Hardware for several years. They helped to build the Ririe Presbyterian Church. Both were very active in the church. He sang in the choir. One of his favorite hymns was "Day is Dying in the West." Christmas he loved Silent Night. He suffered a stroke August 14, 1931. Died March 26, 1932. Was buried March 28, Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
