The following comes from 'Your Father,' received from Dorothy Damewood Rands in August 1998. This was apparently written by Agnes May Miller Rands.

Clarence Raymond Rands was born Trip, So. Dakota January 1, 1894. His parents were David Henry Rands and Sarah Elizabeth Arnsberger. At the age of 3 his parents moved to Cody, Wyoming. When he was six years old his father bought a cattle ranch at Big Piney, Wyoming. At age sixteen he moved with his parents to a farm on Butler Island, Idaho. The state of Wyoming offered a prize for the 7th or 8th grade student who could draw the best map of Wyoming, with the rivers, mountains and towns. He received the state prize from Cheyenne for his map. He was in the seventh grade. He graduated from the eighth grade at the Butler Island school. March of 1916 he purchased eighty acres of the Craig place on Butler Island. June 20th 1917 he married Mary Miller at her home, Ririe, Idaho. Presbyterian minister, Rev. Sweetland, officiated. (A list of children follows.) Clarence was a member of the First Baptist Church of Idaho Falls, Idaho. He died of a heart attack January 18, 1955. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church, Idaho Falls. He died at the Sacred Heart Hospital, and was buried in the Pioneer Cemetery, Rigby, Idaho.'

• His obituary was published in the Unknown newspaper in January 1955 in Bonneville County, ID.

3 Clarence R. Rands, 61, father of Wilson Rands, 144 North Fifteenth and longtime farmer in the Rurie area, died yesterday in Idaho Falls, He was born Jan. 1, 1894, at Tripp, S.D., a son of David Henry and Sarah Elizabeth Armsberger Rands. When he was 3, his family moved to Big Piney, WY. and came to Ririe when he was 16. He attended the Butler Island School. He married May Miller of Ririe June 20, 1917. They farmed in the Ririe area for 21 years and recently retired from farming and moved to Idaho Falls where he was employed by an oil company. Survivors include his widow in Idaho Falls and his son here; sons and his daughters Mrs. Donald Bennion, Boise; Ralph, Portland, Ore.; Gordon. Salem, Ore.; Mrs. Sidney Egan, Klamath Falls, OR; Keith, Robert and Mrs. Ted Case, all of Idaho Falls, 14 grandchildren and one sister. Funeral services will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the First Presbyterian church in Idaho Falls with the Rev. Richard L. Goodson of First Baptist church officiating. Friends may call at the Buck Funeral home until 1 p.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Rigby Pioneer cemetery.
