Eileen Mycock sent a copy of an entry in a registration book in Stockport, Chester, England. Her parents' names are given as Richard Mycock and Sarah Mycock, formerly Starr. The birth took place at the family residence at 21 Carr Green in Stockport. In the 1860 US Census, Emma was living in the household of Martin and Eliza Hawley. Martin was an English immigrant and a saloon keeper. The 1920 US Census stated that Emma had been naturalized in 1869, This was the year of her marriage to an American husband; the law at the time granted citizenship to foreign-born women who married American citizens. In the 1920 US Census, Emma was living in Portland, Oregon in the household of her daughter Letitia and son-in-law Albert H. Rands, their unmarried daughters Nellie, Mae and Cora and their married daughter Pearl, her husband James E. Miller and their two young daughters, Edna and Nellie V.
