Wilson's obituary in the Idaho State Journal shortly after his death reads: "Clarence Wilson Rands, 54, Clearview Avenue, a Union Pacific Railroad engineer, died Tuesday in Bannock Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born April 4, 1918 at Ririe, to Clarence Raymond and May Miller Rands. He started work for Union Pacific in August of 1941 in Pocatello and is survived by his widow, a son, Robert Watson Rands, Sidney, Australia, a daughter, Barbara Jean Stocking, Bountiful, Utah; his mother, Portland, Ore.; four brothers, Dr. Ralph C. Rands, Portland, Gordon G . Rands, Salem, Oregon, David Keith Rands, San Leandro, California, Robert M. Rands, Minneapolis, Minnesota; four sisters, Mrs. Virginia Dickman, Salem, Oregon, Mrs. Verla Egan, Livermore, California, Mrs. Velma Gannon, Madera, California, and Mrs. Mary Case, Portland; and two grandchildren. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Mount Kinport Lodge No. 95 AF & AM, Pocatello Scottish Rite Bodies, El Korah Shrine, Pocatello Lodge No. 674, BPO Elks. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:30 PM in the Henderson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James L. Airey, United Methodist Church, officiating. Rose Croix ritualistic services will be conducted by the Pocatello Scottish Rite Bodies. Funeral arrangements are under direction of Henderson Funeral Home."
Announcement of the funeral services included the additional information that Wilson and Dorothy were married Nov. 15, 1941 in Pocatello. In a letter dated September 15, Dorothy Damewood Rands wrote that Wilson enlisted in the Navy on October 16, 1942 after he received a draft notice. She did not know why he chose the Navy, but brothers Ralph and Gordon followed his lead. Wilson attended HCS Farragut Idaho school and Dental Technician School in San Diego, California while in the Navy. He served at the Naval Training Station in San Diego, and received an honorable discharge at Bremerton, Washington on December 6, 1945. He earned the American Area Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medial and the Good Conduct Medal. ---------------------------------
