bullet  General Notes:

Within the Lightfoot family area at the Carterville Cemetery in Jasper County is a gravestone for Edna Lightfoot, who was born in 1904. I can tie Edna's parentage to Edgar being the father through the obituary for another child, "Dessie". This obituary for Dessie is dated November 8, 1906 in which Edward Lightfoot is named as the father. This date does not match any of the graves for the four children within the Lightfoot Family Plot area but since she died in a different location, she may have been buried elsewhere or perhaps there is no gravestone for her at all.

The obituary for this "Dessie" mentions the parents suffering a death of another child just a few months prior and this time frame which exactly matches the death date on the gravestone for Edna. I can therefore safely conclude that of the gravestones found in the Lightfoot plot, Edna was most likely a young daughter of Edgar's in addition to the "Dessie" for which there is no gravestone.

In addition, the 1910 census for her mother indicated that she had a total of 7 children with only 5 still alive. Those 5 were still living with the family leaving Dessie as the only other known child. Therefore, this Edna would have been the other child that died early and was part of the 2 children that he mother indicated had already died.
