When I knew him with various meetings and get-togethers with the Renton family in Rockford, Gene was called "Tweety-Bird" for a nickname. We can't figure out now why he had this name but we think it came from Roger Renton. Gene dealt in the selling of antiques in the Rockford area.

"Tweety Bird" actually referred to his uncanny ability to carry on relationships with countless women all over the place. Like his brother Jim, he had families in more than one place simultaneously. He and Elaine weren't married for the longest time. When they finally tied the knot, that's how she got a space a Leavenworth National Cemetery.
