Geraldine U. Webb, 81, formerly of Beloit, passed peacefully into the eternal light on Feb. 19, 2009. She passed with great courage and dignity after a valiant battle with cancer. Born to Kenneth and Helen Carey in Rockford, Illinois on Feb. 20, 1927. Geraldine lived most of her life in the Rockford and Beloit areas. She had one of the hardest jobs of all being a Mom and homemaker. Her love of life and incredible sense of humor was an inspiration to all.

She is predeceased by a sister, Betty, brothers, Gene, Bill and Jim.

Married on Dec. 31, 1948 to Carl Kenneth Webb, who predeceased her on Oct. 30, 1974.

Geraldine is survived by children, Robert (Vicky) Webb, Janet (Michael) Davidson, Barbara Gorman, Donald (Wanda) Webb; stepsons, Dwight Webb and Larry Flory; grandchildren, Jason Davidson, Holly Webb, Christy Webb and Michelle Crandell; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Geraldine retired to Silver City NM in 1997 where she spent the remainder of her life.

The family wishes to thank all of the many friends and relatives who offered their support and kindness to our mother during these final months. We extend deep gratitude to all the staff at Peppi's House Hospice Tucson, AZ for the wonderful care given to our mother.

Funeral arrangements by Desert Sunset Funeral Home in Tucson, AZ. It was Geraldine's will to be cremated. Graveside services will be held at Rockton Cemetery, Rockton Ill. April 24 at 1 p.m.

Aunt Gerri was cremated, and we had to wait for a time when we could all get together in Rockford. My cousin, Barb (Gerri's youngest daughter) from Silver City, NM rode with us and we took Gerri's urn. The rest of the cousins met us there. We stayed a week, and drove back. Had a traditional Irish service with wake and a great afternoon at the Celtic Thistle in Rockton complete with a live bagpiper. Had the whole restaurant to ourselves, about 30 of us. It all just trickles in. The cousins gave me Grampa Ken's gold and Ruby ring since I'm the "patriarch" now.

There is a plot next to Helen and Ken, and it is marked. Her urn was interred there at Rockton Cemetery with the rest of the family save for my mother (Ontario, CA), Uncle Jim (Long Beach, CA) and Uncle Gene (Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery, KS).
