  General Notes:

There might be some confusion about the birth date of Mary and consequently the name of her mother, either Lucy Summers or Rosa Nuzum. Her name appears only on the 1920 US Census when her father had already been remarried to Rosa Nuzum and she was listed as his daughter.

However, on the 1910 US Census when her father was widowed, he was living with only 2 other children and the name of Mary Louise Travis is missing when she would have been about 6 years old. She is not found anywhere else in the area. There are no birth records yet to be found.

While her death record indicates the name of the mother as Rosa Nuzum, her name was probably listed because she was the stepmother who actually raised Mary.

Because the census records all reflect Mary's age with a birth year of about 1904 and her gravestone indicates the year of 1904, and that was at a time when her father was still married to Lucy Summers, therefore it must be assumed that Lucy Summers was her biological mother. During the 1910 US Census when she was absent from the household, she was probably being cared for by a close relative.
