• His obituary was published in the Mansfield News Journal on 16 December 1948 in Mansfield, OH.

Lucas--Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Byerly Funeral Home here for Sgt. Donald R. Culler, 24, who was killed in action in France on September 30, 1944, while serving with the 371st Construction Engineers. Rev. C. P. Mitchell, Mansfield pastor, will officiate. Military rites at the grave in Mt. Zion Cemetery will be in charge of McVey Post, American Legion, and the Lucas Veterans' Club.

Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emery C. Culler of Lucas, R.D.1, and brothers, Duane, a student at Wittenberg College, Loren, a student at Ohio State University, and Paul at home. Sgt. Culler graduated from Lucas High School in 1938 and worked for the Matthes Clothing store and Ohio Brass Company in Mansfield before entering services on October 16, 1942. He was sent overseas in May, 1944.
