bullet  General Notes:

His given name was Evert or Evertt depending upon which document you are looking at.

1900 US Census

He shows on the 1900 US Census under the name of Everett at the age of 19 as living and working as a farm laborer for another family. However, there is strong doubt that this is the correct Evert Lightfoot. On that 1900 census, that Everett listed was 19 years old and he indicated his birth date was Nov 1881. But more importantly, he indicated that both of his parents were born in Missouri. Aaron Lightfoot was born in Indiana and Martha Peck was born in Illinois thus it seems unlikely that this Everett was the son of Aaron Lightfoot. But then, where was the real Evert Lightfoot in the 1900 census? He was not listed with his parents. Perhaps he was living with his own family all along and the enumerator just missed his name. There seems to be no other record of a different Everett Lightfoot in subsequent years so maybe this is the correct Everett Lightfoot but just some details on the 1900 US Census record are flawed.

1910 US Census
The real Evert Lightfoot, son of Aaron Lightfoot, shows up in the 1910 census living with his parents but he was listed as "Everett Lightfoot". His age on that 1910 census would seem to indicate a birth year of about 1883.

1917-1918 WW I Draft Registration Cards
There is a record for "Everett Lightfoot" working as a married farmer in Wakenda, Carroll County, Missouri who provided a birth date of 16 Oct 1881. His wife's name was "Venia Lightfoot". This must be the correct Evert based on the wife's name because other records indicate that in 1918 Evert was married to "Vena" which is how her name appears on the common gravestone with "Evert".

1920 US Census
Evert shows on the 1920 census under the name of "Everett" with a wife named "Venie". His parents birth locations are correctly identified as Indiana and Illinois so it seems clear that this is the correct Evert Lightfoot. However, his age of 37 would indicate a birth year of about 1882.

1930 US Census
He was listed as "Everett" with an age of 48 which would indicate a birth year of about 1882. However he correctly indicated his mother's birth location as Illinois but incorrectly indicated that his father was also born in Illinois instead of Indiana. His wife was listed as "Verna".

1940 US Census
He was listed as "Everett" and provided an age of 58 which would indicate a birth year of about 1882. His wife was listed as "Vena".

1960 Death Certificate for his wife
He was the informant for his wife's death certificate and his name was entered as "Everett".

Social Security Death Index
The Social Security Death Index shows his name as "Evert Lightfoot" and a birth date as 16 Oct 1880 which was about 4 months after the 1880 census.

Gravestone
His name on the gravestone appears as "Evert" and his year of birth is 1880. His wife's name appears as "Vena".

Everett Lightfoot...Boarder..Nov 1881..18..MO..Farm Laborer

(Living separately from his parents and working as a farm hand on somebody else's farm. Because his father was a farmer and utilized the older brother, Elery, as needed farm laborer, it is unusual to find this sibling working on a different farm. Perhaps the young Evert did not get along with his older brother, Elery, or his parents and therefore was out living on his own.)
