  General Notes:

Hazel was born in 1912 and birth records are sketchy but it is believed to have been in Minnesota. Her parents did not marry until 4 years later in 1916 and that marriage was performed in Minnesota thus the reason for believing that Hazel was born in Minnesota. Shortly after the marriage, the family moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The Social Security Death Index shows her birth location to be in Wisconsin but the 1940 US Census shows Minnesota.

Hazel was born mentally retarded but managed to outlive all of her siblings and half-siblings. She attended the funeral of her half-sister, Anastasia in 2000. She died in 2003 at the age of 91 while living in a care facility in Eagleton, Chippewa County, Wisconsin.

⁴ Hazel Lightfoot, 91, formerly of Eau Claire, died Saturday, October 25, 2003, at the Eagleton Home in Bloomer where she resided for the past 15 years.

Hazel was born October 4, 1912, in Eau Claire to Charles and Rose (Stoops) Lightfoot.

She is survived by nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Andrew, James and Charles; one sister, Ann Bacher.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2003, at the Golden Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., with Rev. Edmund Klimek officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Golden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Hazel is buried in Section K Lot 42. I did not locate a headstone. She could be buried in the space next to Charles and Rosalie Lightfoot pictured here.
