NOTE - Each stated they had been a resident of Iowa for 10 years which means that John moved his family there from Ohio about 1845. The daughter Harriet was born in Iowa in 1846 which also means that the wife, Ada, must have died in Iowa and not Ohio.

Missing from the family was the youngest daughter, Margaret, who would have been about 9 years old at the time. Her name was probably just mistakenly left out by the census enumerator.
